Proactive Advisors, LLC was founded by Lawrence S. York (BA Berea College; MBA Gatton School of Business & Economics, University of Kentucky) who transitioned his brokerage practice into a fee-only Advisory firm after 20 years. In the two years prior to doing so, he engaged a software development company to code his investment process into a computer program to improve portfolio management. That was 2006-2007, and the next year when ProActive was launched, the worst market correction since 1929 ravaged the stock market. ProActive’s clients were not only protected from debilitating loss, but our portfolios out-performed others when the market rebounded. It was fortuitous the 360Portfolios program had been rigorously back-tested over market cycles including periods with perilous market corrections, and not just in good markets, because doing so enabled us to handily navigate that crisis.
Today, ProActive Advisors continues to utilize 360Portfolios to manage client accounts. The program is an adapted Total Compound Return process with decision-rules to protect capital. It has been improved from its original formulation utilizing only funds to include market baskets of select stocks. It now additionally employs inverse ETF’s and options on stocks for added hedging protection in our more aggressive portfolios. ProActive can also now manage smaller accounts that previously had limited investment choice due to their size. 360Portfolios has performed well since inception and provides next generation portfolio management capabilities.* Fractional share allocations and the ability to quickly implement model changes across investor portfolios are just two of the benefits Proactive clients now enjoy with the 360Portfolios program.
ProActive Advisors believes the financial markets reward skill and competence. We also believe successful investing requires a “pro-active” approach (hence our name) to find the best opportunities and to lower and raise risk exposure as business cycles change. While most firms seem to be content putting portfolios on auto-pilot with fixed allocations and automatically rebalancing them (as if they’re being managed), ProActive advocates tactical money management with flexible asset allocations sync’d to market changes. We also avoid conventional diversification schemes that buy a little bit of everything. We strive to keep all our client’s money working all the time. And that’s our value-added in brief: expertise and the time commitment watching our portfolios and following changes in the financial markets every day.
